This article presents a study conducted to enhance the abacus calculation abilities of fifth-grade students at SDN Barunggagah 3 in Sampang, East Java. The research aimed to investigate the effectiveness of a specific intervention program in improving the students' proficiency in using the abacus as a mathematical tool. The study involved implementing various teaching strategies and assessing the outcomes through pre- and post-intervention evaluations. The results demonstrated significant improvements in the students' abacus calculation skills, suggesting the potential benefits of integrating abacus education into primary school mathematics curricula. This research contributes to the broader discussion on innovative approaches to mathematics education and highlights the positive impact of incorporating traditional tools like the abacus into modern classroom practices.
