Review Process Policy

Review Process Policy

ICIE applies a peer-review process to ensure the quality, originality, academic relevance, and scientific integrity of all manuscripts considered for publication. The review process is designed to provide an objective and constructive assessment of submitted manuscripts in accordance with the journal's scope and publication ethics.

1. Initial Editorial Screening

All submitted manuscripts are first examined by the editorial team to determine their suitability for the journal's aims and scope, compliance with the author guidelines, originality, and adherence to publication ethics. Manuscripts that do not meet the basic requirements may be returned to the authors for revision or rejected without external review.

2. Peer Review

Manuscripts that pass the initial screening are sent to qualified reviewers with relevant expertise in the subject area. Reviewers assess the manuscript's originality, theoretical foundation, research methodology, accuracy of analysis, clarity of presentation, contribution to existing scholarship, and validity of its conclusions. Reviewers are expected to provide objective, confidential, and constructive feedback.

3. Editorial Decision

Based on the reviewers' comments and the editorial assessment, the manuscript may be accepted, accepted subject to minor revisions, returned for major revisions, or rejected. The editor makes the final decision by considering the quality of the manuscript, the reviewers' recommendations, and the journal's editorial standards.

4. Revision and Re-evaluation

Authors whose manuscripts require revision must address the reviewers' comments carefully and submit a revised version within the deadline specified by the editorial team. Authors may be asked to provide a point-by-point response explaining how each comment has been addressed. Revised manuscripts may be returned to the original reviewers for further evaluation when necessary.

5. Final Decision and Publication

Manuscripts that satisfy the required academic and editorial standards proceed to the final stages of editing, proofreading, and publication. Acceptance is not guaranteed until the editorial team has confirmed that all necessary revisions and publication requirements have been fulfilled.

6. Ethical Standards and Confidentiality

The review process is conducted in accordance with the principles of fairness, confidentiality, impartiality, and academic integrity. Reviewers must disclose potential conflicts of interest and must not use unpublished information for personal or professional advantage. Authors, reviewers, and editors are expected to comply with the journal's publication ethics policies throughout the editorial process.

ICIE is committed to maintaining a transparent, rigorous, and constructive peer-review process that supports the advancement of scholarship in Arabic language and literature, Islamic studies, and related disciplines.
